She was born March 13, 1911 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, one of eight children of Thomas and Lillie Sanders Craig and moved to Connersville with her family in 1924.
Formerly employed in domestic services, she had worked for many years for Capital Finance.
On May 8, 1951 she was married in New Castle, Indiana to Charles W. Rice of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Rice died in 1955.
A member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, she had been active on several church committees and boards, including the Ushers Committee and the Golden Branches. Other memberships included the Order of the Eastern Star and the NAACP.
Survivors include one sister: Hattie Belle Collins of Connersville; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
Besides her husband, Charles W. Rice, she is preceded in death in death by her parents; one sister: Rena Nicholson and five brothers: Charles L. 'Tic' Craig, James Rhea Craig, Russell Craig, Otis Craig, and Ralph Craig.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor K. Eugene Spicer and Rev. LaRue Griffin at 2 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2006 in Mount Zion Baptist Church. Friends and family may visit from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to the Mount Zion Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
