Mrs. Lorene "Becky" Dye Hale, age 70, departed this earth on Friday (October 3, 2014) at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, Virginia. Born April 24, 1944, to John Fred and Bertha Emily Dye of Swords Creek, Virginia, she was one of fourteen children. Becky was married to Carlos Hale on June 29, 1963 and to this union was born three children. They were married almost eighteen years when Carlos passed away unexpectedly at the young age of thirty-five. She never stopped missing Carlos. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She was always a hard worker and couldn't stand sitting still. After her sickness, she struggled with being dependent on others. She stayed strong and fought her illness until the very last day. She will be greatly missed by many.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Elmer "Joe" (Jerlene) Dye, Bobby Cecil Dye, Johnny "Peg" Dye, Perry Dye, and Tom (Dorothy) Dye; four sisters, Hazel (Ora) Campbell, Hester (Dan) Hughes, Maxie (C.B.) Hale, and Pinkie Dye.
Becky leaves to mourn her passing three children, Jeffery Hale and Jacqueline of Lenior, North Carolina, Pam Keene and Phillip of Rowe, and Jamie Hale and Freda of Haysi; her broken-hearted grandchildren, Morgan Nicole Keene and Tiffany Paige Keene of Rowe, Ashley Denise Shortt and Jerry of Haysi, W. Rimley Fitzwater, II and Suzanne and Leah Michelle Fitzwater of Lenior, great-grandchildren, LaChelle Lynn Bevins, Elijah Joel Fitzwater, Isaac Connor Fitzwater, and Easton Bishop Fitzwater all of Lenoir; one brother, Charlie "Billy" Dye and Carolyn of Tazewell; three sisters, Darlene Dye of Keen Mountain, Jackie Johnson of Swords Creek, and Syliva Hess and Raymond of Rowe; a Host of additional family, friends, and loved ones also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Phillip Cook and Rev. Danny Hess officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Shortt, Chris Hughes, Denny Bailey, T.C. Johnson, Leslie Keene, Rimley Fitzwater, Ricky Hale, and Tony Campbell.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Sunday.
