Oscar Richardson, of Louisville, Kentucky at the age of 87 went to be with the lord on Monday, December 27, 2010 with his loving family around him and his wife holding his hand. He was an active member of Highview Baptist Church, a deacon, past treasurer and head usher. He was past president of his Gideon Camp. He was passionate about serving the Lord and was active in his prison ministry. Oscar served in the United States Marine Corp in Okinawwa during World War II and was a member of the Marine Corp League 729.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Dora Richardson and two brothers, two sisters and one special nephew, Paul Richardson Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Sheffield Richardson; a daughter, Peggy Nicholson and her husband Art of Houston, Texas; two sons, Marty Richardson and his wife Sherry of Louisville and Timothy Richardson and his wife Amy of Louisville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Francis Arterburn; and two brothers, Lawrence and Paul Richardson.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 2 pm on Thursday December 30, 2010 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday and 10-2 Thursday at the funeral home.
