Miss Hazel Irene Chase, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Chase of Lowell, Mass., died suddenly Saturday morning at Heaton hospital in Montpelier, death being due to a relapse following a recovery from an operation for appendicitis, performed two weeks ago, Saturday. Miss Chase was seemingly recovering nicely and expected to go that day to West Berlin to visit relatives with her mother, while recuperating.

The deceased was born in Pepperell, Mass., Sept. 7, 1894. She came to Northfield a year ago to visit her grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Brigham, and when taken sick was employed in the household of Herbert Chapman.

She was a graduate of Lowell high school and was a trained vocalist, having studied with Professor W. W. Adams of Boston. She was a member of and a soloist in the Central-ville, Mass., Methodist church.

Miss Chase was well and favorably known in Northfield, having lived in the family of Prof. C. V. Woodbury for some time. Miss Chase s untimely death will be learned with regret, and sympathy is extended the bereaved parents.
