Eva Carolyn Lawson, age 81, formerly of Fort Scott, Kansas, passed away on October 2, 2014 at her home in Smithville, Missouri. Carolyn was born August 24, 1933, in Redfield, Kansas, the daughter of James Earl and Eva Angie (LaRue) Anderson. She attended Fort Scott High School and worked for many years at Key Work Clothes in Fort Scott. She married Herbert Lawson on November 25, 1958. They farmed and raised cattle in Kansas and Missouri for 40 years.

Carolyn is survived by four daughters; Dr. Gina Lawson (Casey Ramsey) of Smithville, Mo., Kimberlee Kalaiwaa (Francis) of Gladstone, Mo., April Stevens of Springfield, Mo., and Joy Gray (Eric) of Fort Scott; 8 grandchildren; and one great-grandson due later this month. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and Herb, her husband of 43 years; two brothers, Ralph and Vernon Anderson, a sister, Angie Milford and a son-in-law, Don Stevens.

Father Robert Wachter will conduct Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 6, 2014, at the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Cheney Witt Chapel, with a prayer service immediately following. Visitation will continue until 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Luke’s Hospice or St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel.
