Joe B. Neal, age 76, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, with family by his side. Joe was born on September 17, 1938, in Stearns, Kentucky, to William Jess and Hazel Marie King Neal. He was the second of eight children. Joe married Vivian Perkins Neal on December 26, 1958 in the Jellico Mountains of Tennessee. He had worked for Dana Corporation for 36 years. Joe had been retired for 18 years. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Joe was a fan of fishing and NASCAR. He loved his family deeply and was a shining example of honesty, loyalty, and kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Junior, Phillip, and Don Neal; and step-grandsons, Jason and Jeremiah Beck. Left to cherish his memory are his wife; daughters, Kim (Randy) Beck of Richmond and Karen (Brad) Pope of Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandsons, Neal Williams, Ryan Williams, Brandon Pope, Spencer Pope, and Logan Pope; granddaughter, Jonalyn Beck; great-granddaughter, Kharma Campbell; sisters, Judy Baker of Liberty, Indiana, Onie Stecher of Columbus, Ohio, and Ann Haler of Morgantown, Indiana; and brother, James Neal of Burnside, Kentucky. Visitation for Joe B. Neal will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. James Slaven officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.
