DALHART - S.J. Chennault, 88, died Saturday, March 18, 2006.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Lakeview United Methodist Church with John V. Chennault, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of El Reno, Okla., and George Chambers, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home.

Samuel Jobe Chennault was born April 26, 1917, in Amarillo to Jobe and Elizabeth Dunlap Chennault. Raised in Dalhart, Mr. Chennault graduated from Dalhart High School in 1934 and on Nov. 13, 1938, he married Cecile Stanley in Amarillo. She died on July 3, 2000.

A Dalhart native, Sam went to work for the Rock Island Railroad in the early 40s and retired in the late 60s. He was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church and the Rock Island Masonic Lodge.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan and husband Carl Cumming of Dalhart; a son, Larry and wife Stacy Chennault of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Mathew Chennault, B. J. Chennault, Shelly Chennault and Denise Webb; and two great-grandchildren.
