Genevieve Beatty was born in St. James, Ark., June 12, 1916. She was the first born of seven children of Finis Ford and Mary Hix Ford..


All of her siblings are still alive: Imogene, Joyce, Kell, Nell, Walter and Merlynn..


She had four children: Dennis (1946), Dan (1949), and twins Bruce and Vicki (1955)..


She was a very hearty woman, able to raise four children while also running a farm and a used furniture store while her husband traveled as a conductor with the Santa Fe Railroad..


She has eight grandchildren: David, Joy, Elizabeth, Jessica, Kimberly, Allyson, Nathan, and Elizabeth. She also has great-grandchildren: Liam, Quinn, and Kylen..


As a child, she lived in Thayer, where she graduated High School. Upon graduation, she worked several local odd jobs until in 1941 when she began work at a munitions plant in Little Rock..


She moved to California to marry Ralph Beatty on June 30, 1943. She worked in the Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond, Calif. until the close of World War II..


After living in several California cities (Richmond, Fresno, Stockton, and Martinez), she and Ralph finally settled in Napa, California in 1962. In 1970, Ralph retired and they moved back to rural Missouri. When Ralph died in 1986, she returned to Napa to be near her children during the last 20 years of her life..


Her favorite family vacations were visiting her sisters and brother in the greater Dallas, Texas area. She enjoyed walking everyday. She was an avid reader and also like to "window shop.".


Her greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren..


She was baptized as a Methodist at age 18 and attended church regularly until her ability to hear became severely limited..
