Civil War veteran. Company E, 40th Regiment, Massachusetts Infantry.
He mustered in Aug. 31, 1862 in Boxford, MA. He was in Hampton VA camp and in Aug 10, 1863 he was admitted to Fortress (aka Fort) Monroe in Hampton. He stayed there sick for the remainder of the war. He was individually mustered out June 19, 1865 at Fort Monroe. His Company mustered out June 16, 1865 In Richmond VA.
