Dr. Joseph John Schwarz, D.D.S, 85, of Deerfield, passed away Nov. 12, 2010. He was born Sept. 22, 1925 in Chicago where he attended Shubert Elementary. Joseph graduated from Foreman High School and Northwestern University Pre-dent and Dental School. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago on a scholarship and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during WWII . After his service, he became an instructor in the operative department and an assistant professor in the prosthodontic department at the Northwestern Dental School to later become an Adjunct Professor for 17 years. Joseph was the President of the G.V. Black Society and past president of the Glenbrook Shrine Club and of the Xi Psi Phi International Dental Fraternity. He was a member of the John Evans club, the Masonic Order for 50 years, the American College of Dentistry, Chicago Dental Society and the American Dental Society. Joseph was an avid fisherman, suburban farmer and dedicated artist. Joseph practiced General Dentistry in Chicago for 49 years and held a license in California. He felt his proudest accomplishment was that all five of his children graduated from college.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Jean, nee Milan; his loving children, Ingrid (Paul) Wolf of Munster, IN, Blanche (Martin) Esgar of Highland Park, Joseph M. (Jane) of Palatine, Paul (Sandy) of Glenview and Carl (Edye) of Highland Park; his 15 cherished grandchildren; and his dear sister Dr. Marjorie McBride of La Jolla, CA.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home , 1787 Deerfield Rd, Highland Park, IL. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, 580 Waters Edge, St. 100, Lombard, IL 60148 (630-495-8484) or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60707.
