Roy T. Burgess, 86 of Pikeville passed away at his home peacefully with his family by his side.
He was of the Baptist faith. Roy worked as a machinist and retired from General Motors.
His favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, and playing golf. If it had something to do with the outdoors he would enjoy it.
He was preceded in death by his grandson; Gabriel Burgess, his parents; Frank and Marsha Burgess, 3 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years; Mary Burgess, Pikeville, TN., sons; Dexter (Linda) Burgess, Dunlap, TN., Don Burgess, Sale Creek, TN., Doug (Lynn) Burgess, Dayton, TN., 2 brothers; Calvin (Helen) Burgess, Pikeville, TN., and Everett (Jane) Burgess, Cookeville, TN., 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday October 3, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Freddie Savage officiating. The family will receive friends beginning on Thursday from 4-9 p.m. Burial will be in the Blackburn Cemetery
