Frances Faye Robinson Bookter, 88, passed away peacefully Mon Sept 29, 2014 at her home in Baton Rouge, LA. From her birth in Arizona Community in Claiborne Parish, LA on Oct 12, 1925 to her death, Faye nurtured everyone around her with love. She grew up on the family farm as the youngest of fifteen children.

Faye was a graduate of Lisbon High School where she was actively involved in sports including track & field and basketball, going on to play semi-pro basketball in Shreveport with the Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Co. and the Louisiana Ordinance Plant teams. Faye worked as an integrator operator in the Gas Accounting Department at the Ark.-La. Gas Co. in Shreveport where she met and later married her husband of 65 years.

She was the proud mother of two and a member of First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the International Order of the Eastern Star, and Alpha Delta Phi Mothers Club-LSU Omega Chapter.

Left to honor Faye and remember her love are her husband, Claude Wilbur Bookter of Baton Rouge; son, Claude Wilbur Bookter, Jr. and wife Jan Lewis Bookter of Shreveport, LA; daughter, Kathy Faye Bookter of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Mabel Robinson Nichols of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren, Amy Bookter Simon and husband David, and Sarah Bookter Sale and husband Christopher, all of Shreveport, LA, and Rev. Colleen Allison Bookter and husband Adam Darragh of Baton Rouge, LA; and great-grandchildren, Henry Bernard Simon, Hudson Lewis Simon, and Margaret Bailey Sale, all of Shreveport, LA.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Hudson Allen and Ethel Willis Thomason Robinson; her seven brothers, James, Reece, Robert, Ben, Melton, Jewell, and Burney Robinson; and her six sisters, Allene R. White, Vesta R. Cook, Miriam R. Baker, Lillian R. Frague, Ida R. Preston, and Mamie Robinson.

In Baton Rouge, the family will greet friends from 5-7 on Wed, Oct 1 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East at 11000 Florida Blvd. Faye's funeral service will be held on Thurs at 10 at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Oren Conner officiating. In Shreveport, the family will greet friends from 11-12:30 on Fri, Oct 3 at Osborn Funeral Home with the burial immediately following at Forest Park Cemetery East. The Bookter family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Michael Rolfsen and his staff at Baton Rouge Clinic as well as Amedysis Home Health & Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Faye's name to First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge
