Swedish Maria Johnson Anderson was the widow of railroad contractor Hilder Yngve Anderson. They married in 1881 in Gunnison, Colorado. She died in Chicago in 1907 after living there only 10 months, having lived most recently in Revelstoke, Canada. Mary had run hotels in connection with railroad work in both America and Canada. She was also a mining investor and entrepreneur.
She was the mother of Harry Young Anderson and Roy Maxwell Anderson and was the grandmother of Betty Lou Anderson Faia.
She was the daughter of Peter Johnson, born 1831 in Ovansjo, Sweden, and his wife Ingeborg Larsdotter. She had sisters Anna, Johanna, Charlotta, Mathilda, and a brother named Lars johan. Initially, they all lived in Porter County, Indiana for 1870 census. By 1880, most had moved to Leadville, Colorado.
Maria is buried in section L4, Lot 485.
