At the age of 13 years, she moved to Las Vegas with her family and attended 5th Street Elementary School and Las Vegas High School. She married Lloyd J. Hamilton in 1950 and from that union had three children, Jacqueline, Rhonda and Leland. During her professional life, she worked primarily as a cashier. When the Silver Slipper Casino closed in 1988, she went to work for Culinary Local #226, from where she eventually retired. She lived life to the fullest and without a doubt loved the life she was living. She was an avid basketball fan, inveterate jazz enthusiast and impeccable housekeeper. She loved smelling "good" and wore a fragrance everyday even when ill. Miss Frankie was special to those who mattered most to her because of her unfailing loyalty and fortitude. Her presence will be sorely missed.
Miss Frankie passed from this Earth Sept. 25, 2014.
She is survived by her brother, Herbert Buffington; sister, Barbara Melvin; daughter, Jacqueline Hamilton Scott; grandchildren, Frances Johnson, Ryahnn Jefferson, Justin Jefferson, Breland Hamilton and Kaliyah Hamilton; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rhonda; and son, Leland.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
