She was born July 25, 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to her loving mother Monique L. Maldonado. Jersey was a victim of child abuse. She died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen caused by her aunt. She was brought in to St. Anthony's North Hospital by her aunt and her mom where her injuries were seen as comparable to that of a "major car accident".

Her aunt has been charged with her death and was given a 16 year sentence in September 2014.
