Florene Margaret Den Adel was born on February 9, 1920 to John W. and Bertha Van Houweling Den Adel near Leighton, Iowa. She attended the Black Oak and Scott Center country grade schools. Florene then attended Pella High School, graduating in 1937.

After high school graduation, she moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she graduated from AIB Business College in 1938. Florene worked for many Des Moines businesses; including Solar Aircraft and Des Moines Transportation. She was employed as a secretary by Remco Ltd from 1968 until she retired in 1992. Florene was well known for secretarial abilities, especially her typing speed. Florene's other hobbies included horses and mowing.

In the summer of 2005, Florene's health necessitated a move from her acreage west of West Des Moines to the Hospice of Pella Comfort House. It was there that she passed away on Monday, October 3, 2005; attaining the age of 85 years, seven months and twenty-three days.

Florene is survived by her brother, Clarence and Juanita Den Adel of Pella; and two sisters, a twin, Florence Ramsell of Waterloo and Mae Heyveld of Pella; many nieces and nephews; and good friends Bob and Betty Mitchell of West Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Arthur, Elmer, Marion and Johnny; and brothers-in-law, William L. Ramsell and Gary W. Heyveld.
