Donald R. "Dusty" Rhoads, 83,

of 56 Bastian Road, Muncy, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 19, 1930, in Avis, he was a son of the late John P. Jr. and Goldie (Bloom) Rhoads.

On April 2, 1961, he married the former Janice Marie Swank, who survives. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Dusty was a 1949 graduate of Jersey Shore High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea during the Korean War.

A graduate of the former Williamsport Technical Institute, he worked as a design draftsman for Ingersol Rand in Painted Post, N.Y., for over 35 years, retiring in 1995.

Dusty was a member of the Clinton Township Planning Commission. He was an active Civil War re-enactor with his wife, Janice and enjoyed spending time at Gettysburg especially during the Fourth of July festivities. Dusty also loved camping and square dancing.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two brothers and sisters-in-law, John P. III and Pat Rhoads and Stanley and Carol Rhoads, all of Avis; and a sister, Jean Merrill, of Lock Haven.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Grenoble's, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the service will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John E. Lee, retired Methodist pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Johns Lutheran "Brick" Church Cemetery, Montgomery.
