Tamara “Tammy” Arlyne Morgan Sullivan, 72, a third generation Galt, Calif., resident, passed away quietly, surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif., of complications from heart failure.

Tammy, the granddaughter of Lucille Cox of Galt and daughter of Emery and Francis “Babe” Wantz Wing of Galt, was born Tamara Arlyne Wantz on April 12, 1942, in Sacramento. She was happily married to Charles “Charlie” Sullivan for the past 25 years. They spent the early years of their marriage residing in Pollock Pines, Calif., where they enjoyed the beautiful mountain surroundings.

Tammy was a graduate of Sacramento High School. In the late 1970s, she was a dedicated employee of the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District (SMUD), and worked for several years at the Utility’s Rancho Seco Nuclear Power Plant. As a small business owner of an Ident-a-Kid franchise, she found great joy in helping others to protect their children. Her interests and hobbies included cooking, knitting, crocheting, traveling and looking for her next great adventure. Tammy was a Past Master of the Valley Oaks Grange No. 368, a popular 4-H leader in Pollock Pines during the 1980s and a member of the Galt Christian Church and Family Life Christian Church. No matter what endeavors she dedicated herself to, she was innovative, had a smile and hug for everyone and brightened a room when she entered.

Tammy is survived by her husband, Charlie Sullivan; son, Patrick Purtle; daughter Laura Henry; granddaughters, Morgan Henry and Alyssa Sullivan-Martin; niece, Tina Keltner; dear friend, Lola Colegrove; and many others.

Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m., at Ben Salas Funeral Home located at 149 4th Street in Galt. Call 209-745-1191 for more information. Following the memorial, graveside burial services will be performed at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4300 Folsom Boulevard in Sacramento. Call 916-732-2000 for more information. An additional celebration of Tammy’s life will be announced in the near future.
