Charles A. 'Chig' Coulter, 85, of the Pleasant Grove community of Washington County, passed away at 12:40 a.m., Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. A native of Washington County, he was born on Dec. 16, 1928, to the late Charles V. 'B' and Ella Warner Coulter. He was a member of the Willisburg Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a farmer and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Emily Catherine Coulter, on July 14, 2004; a brother, William E. 'Rackie' Coulter on Oct. 30, 1999, and a sister, Christine Hale, on March 4, 2006.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Armstrong Coulter; a son, Kevin Coulter and his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Cathy Clarkson and her husband, Danny and Kim Miller and her husband, Joe all of Springfield; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and a sister, Joann Bledsoe and her husband, John of Calhoun, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Willisburg Baptist Church with Rev. John Bledsoe officiating. He was assisted by Rev. J.W. Hatfield, pastor of the Willisburg Baptist Church. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Willisburg where the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard conducted military rites. -
