Mona Eileen Anderson Elliott
Born to Myrtle Faye & Lee O. Anderson, 3/25/24, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She died 9/8/14 after a long battle with cancer. She migrated to Seattle, Madrona district, in 1928 Attended Madrona Grade School for 8 years and graduated from Garfield in 1942 She met her lifetime companion and husband Alvin R. Elliott the first day of grade school. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alvin, daughter Susan Lee and grandson Eric.
Mona started her first job at Van Dekamp Bakeries before graduating from high school, leading to a manager position Married Alvin Elliott on April 2,
1948 after the death of his wife Elizabeth Koyne, who had also been a school chum and long¬time friend Mona’s married life was full from the start, accepting Al’s baby daughter, Patsy as her own and becoming a full-time Mother. In 1953 daughter Susan Lee was born with great joy. Mona was active in Camp Fire for 20 years as a leader, assistant leader and Mother for both her girls. She retired from Restorative Care Center as the assistant activity director after many joyful experiences.
Admiral church was a great part of her life. She led the Women’s group in bazaar projects during the summer and then spear¬headed the actual bazaar and luncheons later. She continued this until her later years, keeping alive the fellowship and close friendships of her church. She never said ‘no’ to any task she was asked to do, even after having knee surgery, she was still at the front of the work parties. She counseled those in need and served on so many committees that she became a fixture in the church. She loved every minute and would always have the church on her mind when shopping for material or any crafts for the various money making projects.
She is survived by her daughter Patsy Wells & husband Mike Wells, Kent Ham, Son in law and Joann Moser sister-in-law. She has two Grandsons, Robert Wight, wife Keri Wight. Michael Wells, wife Kim Wells and 3 great grandsons and one great granddaughter.
The family requests memorials to Children’s hospital or Admiral UCC Church, building fund. Memorial services are planned for September 28th 2014 ,2pm at her church, 4320 S.W. Hill St. Seattle.
