Diffie, William Carlton (Bill), age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday night, September 28, 2014. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from the US Postal Service. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret West Diffie. Survived by his daughter, Margaret Ann Diffie; son and daughter-in-law, William Jerry and Bettina Diffie; Grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott and Linda Russell, Susan Renee (Papaw's "Rennie") and Daniel Thomas, Bryan and Lori Diffie, Bethany Diffie, and Ben Diffie; great-grandchildren, Dillion Thomas, Jade Thomas, Jesse Russell, Braden Owen, Cydney Owen, and Kevin Diffie; and several other relatives. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Berry Funeral Home on Chapman Highway. Graveside services will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Alcoa Highway on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer Tennessee. Special thanks to the staff at Tennova Residential Hospice.
