Alonzo S. Adams, 81 of DeLeon Springs passed away September 27, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 23, 1933 in Hamilton County, FL and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Alonzo retired from the Department of Transportation after 39 years. He was an avid hunter and was a member of the Central Florida Fox Hunters Association. He loved hunting, fishing, working and vacationing with his family.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Dennis and Jim and granddaughter, Ashley Mills. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Syble; son, Anthony Adams and wife, Brenda of DeLeon Springs, FL; daughter, Eileen Hester and husband, Jim of Astor, FL; brothers Clarence Adams and Frank Adams, both of Jasper, FL; sister, June Dygert of Jasper, FL and three grandchildren, Jaylin Hester and fiance Derek Golden, Chloe Hester and Cheyenne Mills.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 30th, from 6-8pm at the Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 1st, at 10am at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand, with Reverend Allen Clark and Reverend Mark Schrade officiating. Interment will follow at Pinehurst Cemetery in DeLeon Springs.
