Mary was a lifelong resident of Cortland graduating from Cortland High School in 1972. She had been employed at SUNY Cortland for over 35 years retiring in 2009. She had recently worked part time for the Cortland Free Library.
Mary had a great love for animals serving on the board for the SPCA. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing, cross country skiing, and bicycling.
She is survived by her brother and sister in law Joe and Liz Burns of Cortland, several cousins including Bill Fox of Tully, god daughter Davina Fox, and her dog Payback.
A calling hour will be held Thursday 4-5 pm with a memorial service to begin 5 pm at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home Inc., 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland NY, 13045.
Private burial will be at a later time at the St. Mary's Cemetery, Cortland.
