Ms. April Lanette Cooper, 47, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, September 24, 2014 surrounded by her family. She attended Syracuse Public Schools, graduating from Corcoran High School. She had a love for education and attended Cazenovia College, Syracuse University and Rutgers University. She attended People's African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. April had a passion for fashion; she was a fashion designer and artist. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, George Cooper, Sr.; two uncles, George and Paul Cooper. Ms. April Lanette Cooper leaves to mourn her passing, to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, her mother, Juanita Cooper of Syracuse, NY; one sister, Debra Cooper-Grier (Clarence) of Bronx, NY; grandmother, Julia Cooper; one nephew, Jordan Grier; three aunts, Glenda Cooper, Deborah Cooper and Geraldine Johnson (Jerry); one special aunt and uncle, Darlene and James Kinsey of Syracuse, NY; one uncle, Gene Cooper; a host of loving cousins, including a special cousin/brother, Adonis Kinsey and Shawn Rufus; friends, including devoted friends, Sherman Cowan and Stephanie Neal Irons; and her "pooches", Mattie and Buddy. A calling hour will be 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday at People's AME Zion Church, 2306 S. Salina St., with funeral services to follow at noon. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
