George H. Ackerman, age 89 of Millcreek Twp. died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on July 24, 1916 in Johnstown, Pa., the son of the late Henry and Martha Ackerman. He was self-employed and was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, the Masons and was a Shriner. George is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wilma Nau Ackerman, one son, George Ackerman and his wife, Carol, of Girard, two daughters: Lynn Ackerman of Millcreek and Jean Tatar and her husband, Donald, of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are one sister, Phyllis Stafford of Jupiter, Fla., and one brother Thomas Ackerman of Endicott, N.Y., and five grandchildren.
