MICHAEL L. (MIKE) IRBY

MACON – Michael L. (Mike) Irby, 48, a dedicated father and loving husband, died Thursday at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday at Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. David Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 P.M., Saturday at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue and may be contacted at the residence. While flowers are certainly acceptable, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church, 1415 Bass Road, Macon, GA 31210.

Mr. Irby was born in Atlanta and had lived in Macon most of his life. He was owner and president of Irby Ironworks, Inc., was a member of Ironworkers Local No. 387 and was the 2002 recipient of the Excellence in Contracting Award by the American Institute of Architects. Mr. Irby was a member of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church and formerly coached Little League Baseball at North Macon Park. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, he was President of Big Sandy Creek Hunting Club.

Survivors include his wife, Laurie Hobbs Irby of Macon; his daughters, Kayleigh Irby and Janin Marie Irby, both of Macon; his son, Michael Seay Irby of Macon; his father, Dr. Lewis Irby of Macon; his mother, Mary Williams of Macon; his sister, Nancy Irby (Craig) Wentworth of Macon; his brother, Bobby (Mary Lee) Irby of Macon; two nieces, Christina Wentworth and Morgan Irby, both of Macon.
