Rita D. Starbuck, age 87 of Bangor, was welcomed home to The Lord, and joined her husband, son and daughter, Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at her home. Rita was born April 3, 1927 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Vincent F. and Bertha E. (Schierer) Waldschmidt, and has lived the majority of her life in the Bangor area.

She was a member of Right to Life of MI, Sacred Heart Church and Daughters of Mary.

Her children and grandchildren were her life. She is survived by her 13 children, Harold "Jim" (Starr) Starbuck of Niles, Sharon (Marvin) Sears of Stevensville, Betty (Robert) Huffman of Bangor, Richard (Susan) Starbuck of Grand Haven, William (Melissa) Starbuck of Mattawan, Kathleen Anderson of Paw Paw, Sandy (Darryl) Doan of Stevensville, John (Michelle) Starbuck of Bloomingdale, Steven (Teresa) Starbuck of Paw Paw, Mary Starbuck of Bangor, Joanie Starbuck of Gobles, Janet (John Richard) Lancaster of Vardaman, MS, Lori (Richard) Reo of Paw Paw; 70 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Harold J who passed away in 1986; son, Dennis in 1966; daughter, Susan in 2013; 3 brothers, Paul, Ben, and Vincent Waldschmidt; 5 sisters, Agnes Herman, Eva Culver, Susan Bulat, Frances Piggott, and Teresa Waldschmidt.

The family will meet friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. John Peter celebrant. Internment will follow in Arlington Hill Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Right to Life of Michigan, or masses to be said for Harold, Dennis, Susan Mossing or Rita Starbuck.
