Well Known Traveling Salesman Dies -

Joseph W. Wacek, 65, well known Fremont traveling salesman, died at a local hospital at 11:45 a.m. Friday following an illness of a month's duration. Mr. Wacek returned from a vacation trip to Colorado about a month ago and was taken ill. His condition was critical from the start.

Joseph Wacek is probably the oldest traveling man in point of years of service on the road of the several hundred commercial travelers who make Fremont their home. He has traveled constantly out of this city for more than 40 years and all the time selling agricultural implements, gas engines and tractors. His territory has been the great North West and at various times he sold merchandise in several states.

For many years the firms with whom he was connected offered prizes to the salesmen who sold the largest amount of goods and he received the award on several occasions. Besides being a good salesman he has been a good manager as well, and has accumulated considerable Fremont real estate and farm land and has some holdings in Mexico.

Mr. Wacek owned several houses on Military avenue just east of Lincoln street and had plans ready to build another this fall on Lincoln between Military and Sixth street.

Mrs. Wacek died several years ago. A daughter Luree of Fremont, and a son, Howard of Dix, are the close surviving relatives.

Funeral arrangements have not been made.
