A retired RJR Nabisco sales representative with 25 years of service, selling Lifesavers and other candies, he died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 1997, in an automobile accident in Baker. He was 70, a resident of Greenwell Springs and native of Harrisville, Miss. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel noon until religious services at 2 p.m. Thursday, conductedby the Rev. Michi Head and Dr. James Humphreys. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by wife of 50 years, Sue Lane Mahaffey, Greenwell Springs; a daughter, Susan Mahaffey, Baton Rouge; a son, Paul Randy Mahaffey, Fort Mitchell, Ky.; three sisters, Martha Harkins, Jackson, Miss., Margie Ainsworth, Richmond, Miss., and Kathleen Wood, Clinton, Miss.; and three brothers, Clyde Mahaffey, Melvin, Ala., Kenneth Mahaffey, Jackson, Miss., and J.W. Mahaffey, Magee, Miss. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence P. and Ola Brock Mahaffey; and a brother, Louis Mahaffey. Pallbearers will be friends and members of United Methodist Men of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may bemade to St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
