Obituary - Oakland Press, Saturday, 3/27/1999, pg A11: DURKEE, DOROTHY A. of Ortonville; age 89; March 25, 1999; beloved mother of Sheila McKenna of Ortonville, Gaylor (Brenda) Durkee of Fayetteville, GA and the late Robert Martin Durkee; sister of Helen Arnovits; also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Mrs. Durkee was a member of the Ortonville United Methodist Church since 1953 and she operated the Ortonville Telephone system from 1953 until 1957. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Ortonville United Methodist Church, 93 Church St. Ortonville. Rev. Fred Timm officiating. Interment in Ortonville Cemetery. Mrs. Durkee will lie in state at the Sherman Wilk Funeral Home 135 South St., Ortoville Saturday & Sunday 12 until 4 and 6 until 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be given to the Dorothy Durkee Memorial Fund, envelopes available at the funeral home.
