Alexander Mack Abbott was born on December 28, 1898 in Bath, Steuben County, New York To Lee Abbott (1871-1921) and Mabel Rose (Green) Abbott (1871-1921). Alexander was the second born of three children to the Lee and Mabel during their marriage.

Alexander registered with the US World War I draft on September 12, 1918 Bath, Steuben County, New York. He was 20 years old with a medium build and medium height. Alexander Mack had brown hair and brown eyes. He was working with his father as a farmer.

Alexander Mack was married to Gladys Muriel Early (1898-1985) on September 14, 1920 in Chemung, Chemung County, New York. Alexander was a Salesman with a Retail Furnace shop.
