ARCOLA -- Rodney Ronald Ryan, 79, of Arthur died at 9:44 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 26, 2014) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola with Father Michel Delix officiating. Burial will be at Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola.
He was born Sept. 14, 1935 in Decatur, the son of Vincent and Edith Ryan. He married Marjorie Ellen Sampson in 1954; she died in 2013.
Survivors include one daughter, Robin Mattes of Plano, Texas; two sons, Ronald Ryan of Atwood and Donald Ryan of Middletown, Iowa; one sister, Daraleen Davis of Arthur; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son and one grandson.
Mr. Ryan was formerly employed at the U.S. Postal Service and was a farmer. He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Arcola. He was also a member of the Arthur Lions Club.
