Christine Faye Stephens 86 of Alpena, passed away on Saturday September 27, 2014 at Hospice House of the Hills in Harrison, AR.
The daughter of Tom and Alice Bailey was born on September 10, 1928
in Alpena, Arkansas where she married Dewey Ellis Stephens and later relocated to Monterey Peninsula, California shortly after World War II where she resided for 40 years. There is were she shared her love for cooking while working as the Head Baker in the Cafeteria for the local School district. She was an advent gardener who enjoyed church socials and hosting tea parties for some of her close friends. She was a Sunday school teacher at “The Pink Church” in Salina California where she attended church for over 20 years. Christmas was her favorite time of year. After retiring she returned to her hometown, Alpena, AR where much of her family resided. She enjoyed retirement by participating in buttons clubs attending church at The First Assembly of God in Green Forest.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Alisa Christine Stephens who died in early childhood at the tender age of 3½ years old and her grandson Jed Stephens. Christine is survived by her husband of 67 Years Dewey Ellis Stephens, three sons,Dennis Stephens of Prunedale, CA, Tommy Stephens of Alpena, Mark Stephens of Cucamonga, CA. grandchildren; Rebecca, Krista, Zach, Josh, Zohreh, Shoreh, Azad and great-grandchildren, Gavin Scott Wilson, Eden Wilson, Noah, Hailey Nicole, Riley Doyle, and Bradley Michael also one brother, D.L. Bailey of Alpena, sisters Florine Thomason and Lillian Carpenter of Alpena.
Celebration Of Life Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Green Forest First Assembly Of God Church with Pastor Mark Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Alpena Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday September 30, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home in Green Forest.
