Norma Rodgers, 83 of Winterset passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Norma has been in failing health the past two years and under Hospice Home Care since June 19, 2014. A visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset where the family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church at 24th Street and Ashworth, West Des Moines with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to support Jacob Rodgers' battle with Muscular Dystrophy and condolences may be left for the family on-line at www.ochiltree.com or sent to 217 N. 14th Avenue, Winterset, Iowa 50273.Norma Rita Denato was born February 14, 1931 in Rexfield, Iowa, the daughter of John and Lena (Argenta) Denato. She grew up around Albia and after World War II, the family moved to Newton. In 1949, she met the love of her life, Norman Rodgers and they were married on February 6, 1950 in Des Moines. Norma was very proud of her family. She will be remembered as a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Norma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Norman of Winterset; daughter, Pamela (Harry) of Kansas City, MO; son, Michael (Christie) Rodgers of Winterset; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Alison) Gutshall, Emily (Rusty) Vaughn, Zachary Rodgers, Andrew Rodgers, Jacob Rodgers and two great grandsons, Reid and Rex Vaughn. She is also survived by two sisters, Lena Kauzlarich of Des Moines, Mary Fox of Joliet, IL; two brothers, Merico (Helen) Denato of Marshalltown; Quinto Denoto of Burlington; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and four brothers.
