Age 97. Adele's life was full of love for family & friends, joyfulness in hard work, & selflessly serving others. Adele was preceded in death by parents Swen & Harriet Kight, Ralph & Estella Bohanon, many beloved aunts & uncles, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, and lifelong friends. Growing up, Adele & her family loved family picnics and going to Elk Lake Pavilion to dance and roller skate. After attending one-room schoolhouses until 8th grade, Adele graduated from Princeton High School in 1934 by getting a room in town and working for her room and board. Later, while working hard at Strutwear making silk and nylon hosiery, she met her future husband while roller skating. She said she knew it was love when he gave her an electric sewing machine for a surprise gift! They married on Sept. 1, 1941. He was then drafted into the army after the U.S. declared war on Dec. 7, 1941, and he was gone for nearly 4 years. After the war, they began their family by happily welcoming a son and a daughter, and taking over the family farm in Brooklyn Center in 1950. They bought a farm in Big Lake in 1962, built a house there in 1969, farmed the land until 1981 when they retired, and lived there until 2012. She was actively involved with the Monticello Hospital Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church, Sherburne County Extension Group, her Bible study group, and Princeton High School Reunion Group.
