James R. Bennett, Sr
December 9, 1920 - September 26, 2014
Bennett, Jim, age 93, passed away after a short illness on September 26, 2014 with family by his side. He grew up in Clinton, TN and following his service in the Army in World War II, he spent the remainder of his life in Knoxville where he owned and/or operated several businesses throughout his life. He was a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles where he enjoyed playing poker.
Preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bennett, mother, Lucinda Bennett, two brothers, Lonas and Paul Bennett and long-time companion Evelyn Kaiser. Survivors include his children, Diane Lindsey, Eddie Bennett, Gary Bennett, Jimmy Bennett, and his partner, Terry Bozeman; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Marsha Reep.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:30pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Lynnhurst Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN. The funeral service will begin at 1:30pm. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
