GENE S. "BUTTONS" PIERCE, 58, passed away Thursday at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was born in Louisville, KY., was a Navy Veteran and was a self-employed furniture restorer.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Dr. Gene S. Pierce Sr. and Melba I. Pierce, a sister, Desmia Pierce and a stepbrother, Austin Hunt.

Survivors include:
His son, Blake Pierce; His daughter, Jennifer Pierce; 2 brothers, Greg and Mike Pierce; 5 sisters, Kathy Paradise, Melanie Prior, Cindy Daily, Cathy Smith, and Holly Wimsatt; His step-mother: Vicky Pierce; and 2 step-brothers: Vic and Chris Hunt.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1 PM Monday September 29, 2014 at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville(1119 E. Market St.) with burial in Central Barren Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions: May go to the family in care of the funeral home.
