Jonathan Lee Butler, 56, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA.

Jon was born on February 9, 1958, in Des Moines, IA to Albert Franklin Butler and Mary Butler. He lived most of his life in the Des Moines area and surrounding communities. He was a graduate of Urbandale High School, University of Iowa and Drake University.

Jon most recently worked for Williams Wilbert Vault and H&R Block.

Jon was very active in Boy Scouts and was awarded Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver and was a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a leader for Troop 93 in Beaverdale for 26 years and enjoyed teaching troop member numerous skills and lifelong values to carry through life. And he especially loved going on the campouts!

Jon will be greatly missed by his long time love, Shari Burgus; brother Dave (Kim) Butler; sisters, Kathy (Bob) Pyle and Ginny Davis; nephews, Aron (Simona) Butler and Brian (Cathy) Davis; and niece Kristie Pyle; great nephews Sam Butler and Leo Navarrete; great nieces, Sophie Davis and Juliet Butler; and honorary grandchildren, Reese Golightly, Elizabeth Jayne, Anderson Jayne and Wen Jayne.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and brother-in-law, Larry Davis.

Jon lived 56 years, 7 months and 17 days.
