Mrs. Nancy Adams
Mrs. Nancy Adams, wife of Thornton Adams, died at her home in this city(?), Thursday, December 9, 1897, at 7 o'clock p.m. Deceased had been in poor health about twenty years, and her passing away was no surprise to those acquainted with her condition. Short funeral services were conducted at the family residence by Rev. W. M. Wainright and the remains laid to rest in Crooked Creek Baptist church cemetery. A husband and many relatives mourn her loss and have the sympathy of the community.

Nancy married Elijah T. Sparks on 2, Jan. 1865, in Lebanon, Indiana. This is consistent with the obituary of her 2nd husband Wm. Thornton Adams. Her parents, according to some information, moved to Missouri in 1866. In the 1870 census, Nancy is in the household of her parents, without Elijah. It is not known what happened to him.
