QUEENSBURY -- Marilyn Gates Riley, 81, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at The Pines at Glens Falls.
Born Sept. 8, 1929, in Lansingburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Lotta (Hoyt) Rann.
Marilyn was a graduate of Lansingburg High School.
On Aug. 27, 1949, she married Herbert H. Gates. They were married for 54 years until his death in 2003.
She remarried in 2006, to John Riley of Westmount Health Facility, where they both resided. He passed away in 2008.
She enjoyed writing children's stories and poetry, working in the garden, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was a charter member of the United Methodist Church of Queensbury, where she served in many capacities throughout the years.
Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Quaker Road, Queensbury.
