Harmon Everett Barnett longtime resident of Holdenville passed away on September 26, 2014. He was born on July 1, 1928. He attended school in Holdenville until he joined the Navy. He served his country honorably in the Korean Conflict . Upon returning from wartime, Harmon married his love, Helen Carpenter on April 30, 1949. The couple had one child. Harmon continued serving his community upon his return working as a fireman for the Holdenville Fire Department for over 28 years. He moved up the ranks to become Fire Chief until his retirement. He loved to mow his yard but only with his beloved pets onboard as co-pilot. Fishing was also a pastime he enjoyed. Harmon was a longtime member of the Faith Freewill Baptist Church of Holdenville where he loved to serve the Lord in capacity he was needed over the years. Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Lou Turney who loving raised him, grandson, Brandon Barnett, siblings Buck Barnett, Pete Barnett, Martin Barnett, Walton Barnett, and Bill Barnett. Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30am on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Faith Freewill Baptist Church. Bro. Earl Scroggins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brent Stewart, Orville Reid, Dub Tatum, Bob Smith, Jeff Hinze, and George Massad. Interment will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
