Walter George (Ottie) Fisher Jr was born in Cuero DeWitt Co. TX. his parents were, George Fisher(1855) and Nancy Pickins (b)1861 Red River, TX), they lived in Yorktown DeWitt Co TX, they became migrant workers and moved about settling in an Oil Field Camp Community and using a land grand given for military service to his Great grandfather ,George Fisher, Civil War Soldier, Pvt /Conf/TX/18th Regiment TX Cavalry Military Co."D" Darnells, his father George Fisher was born in 1855 in TX and lived in Matagorda Co TX , making his home in Markham, TX with his parents and wife and raising his two known son, Walter George Jr (Ottie) and Lewis.. Lewis moved Austin, TX and married,Iva Mae Meeks and Ottie moved about and worked , always returning to Markham, he married Phoebe McClintock in 1925-26, she bringing one child/son, Zedrick Berry Roy, into the marriage. Their first son/child Walter George Fisher was the apple of his father and grandparents eye, she see to be exceptionally smart and learned fast, didn't get into the usual mischief as other boys his age. Ottie's children followed with another son, Willie, a daughter Stella, the Joe Louis, name after an uncle, Otis (named Junior, that wasn't a junior)and L C. ( originally named Lacy and changed to just initials L C). This family seem to have a different type of personality and at times hard to understand.
Ottie ( Walter George) Fisher was an alcoholic and that illness was inherited by his sons
Cousin Ottie as he was called by some was well liked and regarded highly among his friends..he was the only one that actually could control his second son's temperament, that was displayed when he hurt his older brother, George, it was discovered the old man's words were law and not challenged.
He took a lot from his wife because of his drinking but when he'd had enough he said it and it stopped immediately, that said a lot about a little petite man of small statue, his verbal strength, that could and would be backed up and the respect given him. It's sad he died in the 1950 and didn't get a chance to set examples of respect to be followed.
