Catherine E. Atkins
(February 18, 1936 - September 25, 2014)

Mrs. Catherine E. Atkins, age 78, of Cumming, GA and formerly of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Thursday afternoon, September 25, 2014 following an extended illness. Mrs. Atkins was born on February 18, 1936 in Polk County to her parents, the late Albert & Celestia Virginia Williams Wheeler. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Atkins and an infant sister, Winfrey Wheeler. Mrs. Atkins was retired from the Allstate Insurance Corporation following a long, successful career as an executive secretary. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church but in recent years had been associated with & attended the North Metro Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son & daughter in law, Russ & Regina Atkins; her brother & sister in law, Russell & Patsy Wheeler; her grandchildren, Tyler Atkins and Melissa Thurmond and her husband Caleb; a number of nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine E. Atkins will be conducted on Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Frank Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.

The following Gentlemen are asked to serve as Pallbearers: Tod Wheeler, Branton Wheeler, Richard Patterson, Robert Anderson, Jr., Caleb Thurmond & Brad Lay.
