Charles Edward Routh, Jr., son of the late Charles Edward Routh, Sr. and Addie Mae Bolding Routh, was born November 30, 1922 in Plato, Missouri and departed this life January 4, 2012 at his residence in Ellsinore, Missouri. He had attained the age of eighty-nine years, one month and four days. Mr. Routh had lived in Ellsinore during his early childhood. He returned to Ellsinore twenty-four years ago after retiring as an aerospace logistical engineer. Charles worked on the F-104 and F-106 fighter aircrafts while at Convair Corporation. He also worked on the F-4, F-15 and F-18 fighter aircrafts while at Hughes Aircraft Company. Charles was a member of the Society of Logistical Engineers and the American Legion. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of Operation. Charles enjoyed working on his land and being outdoors. He was interested in family genealogy and enjoyed visiting with people. Charles is survived by his wife, Martha Jean Nicol, who he was united in marriage with on August 29, 1953 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also survived by three sons, Doug Routh and his wife Elaine of De Soto, Missouri; Greg Routh of Rancho Cucamonga, California and John Routh and his wife, Angie of Charlotte, North Carolina. Charles also has thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

A visitation will begin at 12 Noon on Sunday, January 8, 2012 in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, Missouri with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Rev. William McDowell will officiate. Burial will follow at the Van Buren City Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers, if desired.
