She worked many “moonlighting” jobs, but most notably at Sonogee for 16 years and then Somesville Rehab for 10 years. During her employment, her efforts were acknowledged with many awards and commendations. She enjoyed her many trips to Florida, camping in Baxter State Park, and good times spent with family and friends. Above all she loved life. Her sense of humor was never-ending, her smile and laugh contagious.
She is survived by her parents, William T. Mitchell and Alice B. Cousins; husband, Merle; only child, Melissa Roberts; Melissa’s father, Francis Kelley; three sisters, Debra Dow and husband, Richard, Cheryl Schimtt and husband, John, and Cathy Mitchell and partner, Ed; two nieces, Brandi Mitchell and Gretchen Schimtt; one nephew, Jonothon Mitchell and wife, Chris; five grandchildren, Lisa Kelley, Matthew Roberts, Ryan Roberts, Ty-Law Roberts, and Casey Roberts; great-grandchildren, Brayden Sargent and Jocelyn Shuck; two great-nieces, Mackenzie Mitchell and Laurel Mitchell; two great-nephews, Dylan Mitchell and Jack Mitchell; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
