Son of Jeffrey Randolph Valentine and Doris Elayne Hess


Wesley Niles Valentine, age 11, died Sunday evening, June 9, 1991, at the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital due to complications following a bone marrow transplant for aplastic anemia.

He was born June 2, 1980, in Bountiful, Utah, to Jeffrey Randolph Valentine and Doris Elayne Hess Valentine. Wesley attended Burton Elementary School, where he excelled in his studies. He was an active member of the LDS Church, Kaysville 5th Ward, and had always planned to go on a church mission. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, computer games and practical jokes. He always loved being outdoors and playing with his friends. He was a loving boy with a good sense of humor and put up a strong fight to the end.

Survived by: His parents, five brothers and sisters, Jared (17), Aaron (15), Sharon (13), Christopher (7), Julietta (5); grandparents, Harold (Cliff) and Irene Valentine; Niles and Elayne Hess, great-grandma, Sarah Palmer.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation for the care and love provided by the doctors and nursing staff at the University of Minnesota Hospital, the University of Utah Hospital, and Primary Children's Hospital, the staff and residents of the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis, the personal help of the staff at Physician's Health Plan, and all the family, friends and neighbors who provided help and support.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 14, 1991, at 11 a.m., at the Kaysville 5th LDS Ward, 201 So. 600 East. Friends may call Thursday evening at the church, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday one hour prior to the service. Burial at the Kaysville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Wesley Valentine Memorial Fund, in care of Lynda Stringham, 892 East 450 So., Kaysville, Utah, 84037. The contributions received will be divided between the University of Minnesota Bone Marrow Transplant Program and the Ronald McDonald House.

Services under the direction of Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary.
