Walter Noble Franks (W.N.) passed from this life on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 84. He was born May 01, 1930 to Walter Noble “Joe” & Alta (Johnson) Franks in Kent, Oklahoma. He spent most of his childhood in the Snow community. W.N. married Anna Lue Joslin on August 2, 1949 in Antlers, Oklahoma. Many of the early years of their marriage were spent in Oklahoma City. They later spent time in California and made a home in Oregon. They returned to Oklahoma, in 1970, to be with family and friends. They made their home between
Snow and Finley. W.N. worked on, and became foreman of, the Ray Tucker Ranch for many years. He worked hard and his abilities as a cowboy were unquestioned. He retired from the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority, working as a maintenance man on the Indian Nation. In 2001, he married Virginia Joslin Deatherage. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. He shared his produce with many. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. W.N was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Alta Franks; wife, Anna Lue; daughters, Shirley Ann and Peggy Sue and his brother Harold Noble Franks. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:00am at the Church of Christ in Finley, Oklahoma with Michael Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Finley Cemetery under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service.
