Tom Ross
Estherville - Tom Ross, the son of Ralph T. and Darlene M. (Christoffer) Ross, was born February 2, 1942, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away Friday, January 30, 2009, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 66 years.

He received his education in the Superior schools, graduating in 1959. He also attended Estherville Junior College.

On April 9, 1965, Tom was united in marriage to Dorothy "Dottie" Grieve in Brookings, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple made their home in Columbia Heights, Minnesota and Tom was employed as Manager of Catalog Sales for a 7 state area at Montgomery Wards. In 1978, the family returned to the Estherville area where Tom began farming and also raised hogs and cattle. He was also employed by the United States Postal Service as a substitute rural mail carrier. In 2007, the couple retired and moved into Estherville.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Tom also served on the Superior Cooperative Elevator Board of Directors and later the Great Lakes Cooperative Board. He served on several school boards in the Estherville School District. Tom was very instrumental and lead a group to retain Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative in Estherville, when there was discussion of moving the headquarters to another community.

Grateful for having shared Tom's life are his wife, Dottie of Estherville; his children, Corey Ross of Omaha, Nebraska; Alan Ross and Jen Johnson of Estherville; Linda Kay Ross of Seattle, Washington; his mother, Darlene Ross of Estherville; his brothers and sisters, Dennis Ross and his wife, Sharon of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Cheryl Klingbeil and her husband, John of Estherville; Eileen Brown and her husband, Dan of Bozeman, Montana; Brian Ross and Velvet Lundgren of Estherville; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Tom in death were his father; an infant sister, Joyce Elaine; two brothers, Craig and Tim; and two nephews, John Ross Klingbeil and Robert Hoffman.
