Mary Jane Rocha Ford
Nov 12, 1942 - Dec 12, 2013
Mary Jane Ford, born on November 12, 1942 in Newman entered into rest surrounded by her husband and loving family.
Mary Jane loved taking care of her family and friends, and thoroughly enjoyed preparing meals and treats for both family and the community. Every Sunday, her home was a festive gathering for family, friends and fabulous food.
She could often be found sewing the night hours away on her mother's treadle sewing machine. Her creations and quilts found appreciative owners far and wide.
Mary Jane took special pleasure in planting and keeping her yard looking picture perfect. She was also an avid fan of local Portuguese festas, especially the bullfights, and was a member of the Our Lady of Miracles Society and P.F.S.A.
Mary Jane had a passion for her career as a hair dresser at the Crows Landing landmark, "Mary Jane's Salon of Beauty", for over fifty two years. She loved her clients dearly, as if everyone was family. She had a unique way of making everyone she met feel remarkably special and loved. It seemed she never met a stranger. Her selfless generosity and unparalleled style will be dearly missed by all.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents Joe M. and Lucy Rocha, her brother Elerd Rocha and her niece Bailey Rocha. She leaves behind her loving husband of forty nine years, Ed, and her siblings, Joe Rocha, Ed Rocha, Marlene Souza, and Melvin Souza all of Newman. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at The Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013. Following the funeral will be a gathering at the F.D.E.S. Hall in Newman.
