Linda Annette Olsen, age 52, passed away on Monday September 22, 2014 surrounded by her family, after a two-year long battle with lung cancer. She was born on January 8, 1962 in Flint, Michigan to John and Josephine (Keener) Alt. Linda was a 1980 graduate of Davison High School. She later went on to the University of Michigan where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy. While at the University of Michigan, Linda met her husband Dr. James Olsen in the Michigan Marching Band. They were married on July 20, 1985 in Davison, Michigan. She worked at U of M as a physical therapist for 11 years before dedicating her life to raising her four children and being closely involved in their many activities.

Over the years Linda devoted much of her time to serving the community as a soccer coach; Cub Scout den leader; Boy Scout volunteer as a counselor for music, ice-skating, and skiing merit badges as well as the Ad Altere Dei Catholic Boy Scout medal; and with the Servant’s of God’s Love at Emmanuel House. She spent many years dedicated to serving the Girl Scouts as a troop leader, Catholic religious medal leader, and area registrar; and she earned the Outstanding Leader Award, Outstanding Volunteer Award, and the National Adult Appreciation pin. Linda was a dedicated servant to God where she served her parish, St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Saline, Michigan, by teaching religious education classes, starting and then serving on the hospitality committee, cleaning the altar linens, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister.

Linda will be fondly remembered for her magic laundry basket, welcome home cookies, unwavering commitment to supporting her children’s activities, spoiling her cats, her love of gardening, puzzles, Jazzercise, athletic activities, and world travels.

Left to honor Linda and remember her love are her beloved husband of 29 years Jim; four children, Alex (Kristen) Olsen, Tyler (Sarah Menchak) Olsen, Monica Olsen, and Vince Olsen; father, John Alt; siblings, Gerald (Julane) Alt, David Alt, Teresa (Gerry) Gertiser, Maria (Tim) Waxler, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother Josephine and sister Sandra (Alt) Cantley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Linda’s name to Emmanuel House of Ann Arbor or the St. Andrew’s Church Building Fund
